The Community Kitchen is a food service program providing complementary meals to in-need residents, families and workers in Chicago. As of Dec 30, 2022 Community Kitchen and the Community Canteen has provided over 145,000 hot, fresh meals to local senior housing complexes, food pantries, community centers, and residents of Chicago.
Meals are created by a team of chefs and industry partners. We source proteins, produce and baked goods from local farms and bakeries whenever possible.
The Community Kitchen + Canteen program provides work to chefs, cooks, and front-of-house hospitality workers. We work with a network of restaurants and chefs throughout Chicagoland.
It’s our belief that re-purposing our kitchens to feed those in need, while keeping the supply lines from farmers and producers intact, is one way we can help during this ongoing crisis.
Please contact us if you would like to sponsor additional meals.
The Community Kitchen is a project initiated by Public Media Institute, Marz Community Brewing Co., Kimski and Maria’s Packaged Goods & Community Bar. Additional partner kitchens include Wherewithall, Dmen Tap, Iyanze Bronze, Whiner Beer Co., and Snakes & Lattes.
